NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS (NI)/ VIRTUAL INSTRUMENTATION LABORATORY

Name Description Instruments/Softwares
NI Digilent Analog Discovery 2 The Analog Discovery 2 – NI Edition is a pocket-sized device that transforms any PC into an electrical engineering workstation. Driven by the WaveForms TM software front panel, the USB-powered Analog Discovery lets you build and test analog and digital circuits in any environment with the functionality of a stack of lab equipment: •2-Channel Oscilloscope •2-Channel Waveform Generator •16-Channel Logic Analyzer •16-Channel Digital Pattern Generator • Digital I/O • Voltmeter • Spectrum Analyzer • Network Analyzer •±5VDC Adjustable Power Supplies
NI CDAQ-9178 The CDAQ 9178 is a Compact DAQ USB chassis designed for small, portable sensor measurement systems. The chassis provides the plug and play simplicity of USB to sensor and electrical measurements. It also controls the timing, synchronization, and data transfer between C Series I/O modules and an external host. We can use this chassis with a combination of C Series I/O modules to create a mix of analog I/O, digital I/O, and counter/timer measurements. The cDAQ 9178 also has four 32 bit general-purpose counters/timers. We can access these counters, as well as share clocks and triggers, through two built-in BNC connectors.
NI Digital IO Module Provides digital input and output capabilities for Compact DAQ or Compact RIO systems. Modules offer input, output, or a combination of digital lines, and they can interact with a variety of voltages and logic levels, so they are well-suited for a variety of benchtop and industrial environments. Digital Modules also offer isolation options and sinking or sourcing capabilities to add further protection to our digital I/O application. When we use C Series Digital Modules with Compact RIO, we can use LabVIEW FPGA to create custom high-speed counter/timers, digital communication protocols, pulse generation, and more.
Electronics Engineering laboratory The “Electronics Engineering” lab is based on the NI Educational Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite (NI ELVIS II) platform. The software is developed in the LabVIEW graphical programming environment. The system allows the students to assemble electronic circuits on the prototyping board. The circuits to be assembled are presented on respective front panel of each hands-on experiment, as well as in course manual.
Quanser QNET 2.0 Rotary Pendulum The Quanser QNET 2.0 Rotary Pendulum board is a versatile servo system designed to teach and demonstrate the fundamentals of inverted pendulum balance and control. Designed exclusively for NI ELVIS platform and LabVIEW software, the system can easily be configured to demonstrate various control techniques, including LQR and hybrid swing up.
Quanser QNET 2.0 HVAC The Quanser QNET 2.0 Heat, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) board is a versatile system designed to illustrate concepts of fluid dynamics and thermodynamics control. Designed exclusively for NI ELVIS platform and LabVIEW software, the system can easily be configured to demonstrate various techniques to control temperature in a chamber.
Quanser QNET 2.0 VTOL The QNET 2.0 Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL) Board is ideally suited to teach and demonstrate the fundamentals of flight dynamics and vertical take-off and landing flight control. Developed exclusively for NI ELVIS platform and LabVIEW software, the system can easily be configured to control the flight of the trainer using a variety of control methods
Electronics Engineering Add-on Board The Electronics Engineering Add-On Board provides a hands-on platform for teaching fundamental electrical engineering concepts including resistance, inductance, and capacitance as well as basic electrical theory. The student is guided with step by-step instructions to each of the 22 included labs and will use the educational board to assemble the electric circuits, make the required connections of power sources and meters, and conduct experiments with the studied circuits. The student will collect, display, and analyse data through the provided LabVIEW-based lab software. With these labs, students can learn the operating principles of RL, RC, and RLC circuits
Quanser QNET 2.0 DC Motor The Quanser QNET 2.0 DC Motor board is a versatile servo system designed to teach and demonstrate the fundamentals of DC motor control in a variety of ways. Designed exclusively for NI ELVIS platform and LabVIEW software, the system can be easily configured to control motor position and speed, as well as for modelling experiments.
Quanser Mechatronic Actuators Board Understanding the various types of actuators which are available, as well as the differences between them is key to making informed design decisions. Designed exclusively for the NI ELVIS III platform and LabVIEW, the Quanser Mechatronic Actuators board exposes students to industry-grade measurement and command fundamentals for the four most common actuator types: brushed DC motors, brushless DC motors, stepper motors, and servo motors.
NI Operational Amplifier Add-on Board The Integrator Operational Amplifiers Board for NI ELVIS is an add-on application board for the NI Engineering Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Suite II (NI ELVIS II) or NI ELVIS II+ for operational amplifiers applications. The Integrator Operational Amplifiers Board for NI ELVIS II/II+ provides both the hardware and lab resources necessary to teach these topics, giving students all components, wires, and instruments needed conduct experiments. The accompanying software includes all lab instructions and provides students with a simple method of conducting and exporting results of experiments for each lab.
