The Institute is equipped with sufficient sports facilities for several indoor and outdoor games for students and staff. Indoor games include Table-Tennis, Carom and Chess and the outdoor games include Badminton, Cricket, Football, Basketball, Volleyball, kaddabi, Kho-Kho, Throwball etc. In addition Multi-gym facilities are also available for all the students and staff.
The Sports equipments / kits are issued to the students for both practice sessions as well as during tournaments. The institute regularly organizes the Inter branch and inter hostel Sports competition for (Boys & Girls) and Cultural events. Besides organizing institute also participate in All India Inter NIT Sports Meet in various events.

Cultural Event:

Ekarikthin is the annual Techno-Cultural Festival of NIT Nagaland.It provides a platform to young nurturing,talented youths to showcase their talents in various culturals and technical events which are organised during these two days of extravaganza.The main attraction includes the battle of bands(annual rock contest) where artists from varIous parts of the country compete among each other,Mr and Miss Ekarikthin competition,fashion show,various exhibitions,singing and dance competitions.Literary contests like quizzes,debates,spelling bee etc are also organised .The techinal sections includes robotic contests,online coding ,electra quest,various onine events and many other exciting games like dota,fifa ,counter strike,NFS etc which has good winning amount.Famous bands and singers also share ekarikthin stage every year.Social initiative are also taken up,the ekarikthin marathon is organised every year.Summing up ekarikthin is the key to all sort of funs,a chance to win huge sum and a platform to bring the diverse culture and heritage of this nation on a single platform.
