"Work hard, work harder, work with efficiency, work in cooperative Spirit and work with team spirit to make your country great, self-supporting and strong."

- Sir M. Visvesvaraya

Greetings from National Institute of Technology Nagaland!

The National Institute of Technology Nagaland (NIT Nagaland) is a higher education technology institute located at Dimapur, Nagaland. It is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology in India. NIT Nagaland was set up by the Government of India in 2009, for imparting technical education in the state of Nagaland.

The State of Nagaland was the 16th State of the Indian Union and it is a land of folklore passed down the generations through word of mouth. The exquisitely picturesque landscapes, the vibrantly colourful sunrise and sunset, lush and verdant flora of this state brand Nagaland as the Switzerland of East. This is a land of unimaginable beauty moulded perfectly for a breathtaking experience. The native peoples’ colourful and intricately designed costumes, jewellery and beads that they adorn, make one to feel that Nagaland is an affluent fashion station of the East. Nagas, by nature, are lovers of fun and frolic and in Nagaland, life is one long festival. The State Tourism, Art and Culture Department of Government of Nagaland celebrates the world famous “Hornbill Festival” every year from 1st to 10th December. In Nagaland, music is an integral part of life; the folk songs and the tunes rendered exquisitely, set our feet a-tapping. Nagaland is blessed with salubrious climate throughout the year, which makes Nagaland an ideal place for trekking, rock climbing, jungle camping and offers limitless exploration possibilities in its sub-tropical rain forests. The annual economic growth rate in Nagaland is nearing 10% on a compounded basis: one of the fastest in the region. The people here are warmhearted and extremely hospitable.

NIT Nagaland is fully funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and is built in hilly terrain spreading about 300 acres. At present this institute offers six undergraduate courses (Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering) four master courses (Power System Engineering, VLSI Systems, Computer Science and Engineering, and Communication Engineering) and Ph.D., programmes (Engineering, Science and Humanities). All the departments are enriched with bright, knowledgeable and highly experienced faculties and staff. The faculties are having passion for research and pursuing many collaborative research studies with accomplished professionals and premier industrial partners. Need based specialised training programmes and workshops are being frequently organised for the students for acquiring hands-on-experience. Each department has its own laboratory and these are well equipped with the state-of-art apparatus and instruments. With these laboratory facilities and talented faculties and staff, there are ample of scopes for establishing consortiums with premier industries, national laboratories and academic institutions of our country. These consortiums would produce highly talented engineers for perusing high quality research leading to breakthroughs and develop entrepreneurs to create job opportunities in the frontier areas of engineering and technology such as robotics, automation, artificial intelligence, medical engineering, genetic engineering, renewable energy, bio-technology and sensors technology.

NIT Nagaland provides separate hostels for boys and girls. The hostels are provided with all the basic facilities to the students. All the hostels are equipped with high speed internet facility. Adequate bus facility has also been extended for commuting of staff and employees staying outside the campus. Alumni of NIT Nagaland are well placed in giant industrial sectors and a few are pursing higher education in internationally renowned academic institutions. “Ekarikthin” is the annual techno-cultural festival of NIT Nagaland. Ekarikthin, in Sanskrit means sharing the same heritage. It provides young nurturing talented youths a platform to show their talents in various cultural and technical events and to develop their leadership qualities and organizational skill as well. Students from all over the Nagaland participate in this event.

According to Rabindranath Tagore,

"the Highest Education is that which does not merely give us
information but makes our life in harmony with all existence,"

NIT Nagaland is committed to impart higher level of education not only in the core-areas of Engineering but also in multi-disciplinary fields for producing world class engineers to support and also to take a leap in realising the Government of India current initiative of “Make in India Programme” and to cater to the need of present competitive era. The curriculum of NIT Nagaland is dynamic and progressive for achieving higher quality. Modern teaching tools are adopted for quicker learning. Besides, NIT Nagaland is paying careful attention to the overall development of the students for nurturing them to become self-motivated and responsible citizens of our country.

It gives me immense pleasure in inviting all the industrialists, professionals, researchers and students to join hands with us in imparting highest level of technical education in multi-disciplinary areas to the students to make our country great, self-supporting and strong.

Jai Hind!
