Hostels

NIT Nagaland houses six (6) Hostels - "home away from home". At present there are four (4) sixty four seated boy's hostels, one (1) fifty six seated girls hostel and a brand new thirty two (32) seated PG boys hostel inside NIT Nagaland campus. Named after mountains of significance in the locality, the hostels are -

  • Saramati A, B, C. Presently occupied by the 4th year students.
  • Japfu - Occupied by the 2nd & 3rd year students.
  • Tiyi - Also occupied by 2nd & 3rd year students.
  • Patkai A, B, C - Exclusively meant for the 1st year students
  • Dzukou- Ladies Hostel (Both UG and PG).
  • Zanibu - PG Men's Hostel.


Saramati is the highest peak in Nagaland. Saramati hill range is also the biggest in the mountain range of Nagaland situated on the extreme south east of the state. Japfu Peak is the second highest peak in Nagaland, located about 15 km south of Kohima. The Patkai Mountain range also known as Purvanchal Range, one of the eight mountain ranges in India and the major of India's North Eastern states. The Dzukou Valley is a valley located at the border of the Indian states of Manipur and Nagaland. The rare Dzukou Lily is found only in this valley. Zanibu is a mountain range, which is an extension of Patkai range, the longest mountain range in Nagaland. Altogether there are about 172 well furnished rooms across 6 hostels (and some under construction). NIT Nagaland also provides very wholesome messing facility (Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian) for all students and few faculties and staff.
